Manali is actually a collection of three adjascent hills , each with a village and an old temple dominating it Old Manali ( Manu Temple) , Vashishtha and Dhungri (Hadimba Temple ) if u enjoy exploring , walk to either the Manu or the Vashishtha temple past the old manali especially out of the season . Fifteen minutes past old manali sits on the rock by the Manalsu stream for a bit further on a shepard trails goes up to a hill . walking through the Old manali or Vashishtha villages is a treat. in March April, apple blossoms greet you , and butterflies flit around . best time to visit June to October. The 400 yrs old Hadimba temple also known as Dhungiri temples framed by towering deodars is worth seeing come here early in the morning to see the dark wood on its sloping roof glow like burnished metal . Near the Nehru Park on The Mall take the path to the protected Van Vihar stretch . The 51 km climb up to the 13400 foot high Rohtang pass (open in july september usually) is formidable.
