Bakkhali does not offer much by the way of luxry and is more suited for the unfussy tourist looking for a dream beach set in natural surroundings. Though very safe the 6 km long Bakkhali Beach is not great for swimming as it waters are too shallow. Its much more fun to wade and splash in the surf. the beach is lit up to 10 pm so u can linger on the sands . there are no life guards here . Dress conservatively here no one wear swimsuit. You can also snack at the stalls on the beach these offer basic food like bread and omlet or onions pakoras stall owners also fry fish for tourists , who can buy them fresh at the boat come in with the catch. a day trip to the artificially created Henrys Island will provide u a whiff of the Sunderbans way of life .Although called an island its actually a project areas where ponds have been dug to encourage fishing in the region .Half of the 200 hectares here consists of water bodies there are also stretches of forest with 40 different kinds of species of shrubs and trees unique to the Sunderbans .Wild animals such as the bagrol, the small tiger of the wild cat family roam around freely here. Frazergunj is a fishing harbour where one can see colourful boats docked in the creek. group of fishermen sits here and can regale u with stories of how they dodged river pirates.
